In one line. A free browser fantasy RPG where every fight is settled by dice, every reward can be gambled away, and the only way down is further down.
Fate Ascendant is played in a browser tab. You arrive in Misthaven, a town that lives behind its shutters under a mist that has not lifted in living memory, and you fight your way outward. Six regions stand between you and the Abyss, and the Abyss has no bottom.
Combat is turn-based and decided by dice. Loot comes in eight tiers, and the eighth never drops from anything: a Unique can only be born in a boiling Well of Fate from a sacrificed Ascendant piece, and it carries a named passive no other item in the game has. Nearly every reward can be gambled — after a battle the pot rides on the haul, and the table keeps it all if nothing rises.
The town is voiced. A fisherman on the wharf tells the story in fragments, each one unlocked by something you have actually done. A prisoner in the castle cells has never seen who feeds him. A woman trades through a shuttered window and will not open her door.
